Inspiration

As a young man, Camões was sent to study at the prestigious University of Coimbra where he was introduced to famous classical epics such as Virgil's Aeneid and Homer's Odyssey, among others. Scholars in this section explore how the forms and themes of ancient texts came to influence Camões' own verse.
