Research Help in the Mathematics Statistics Library: Home

This guide describes the options for getting library research help related to mathematics and statistics.

Office Hours

Staff at the Mathematics Statistics Library circulation desk can help you with common questions anytime the library is open. The librarian also offers office hours at the circulation desk for in-depth questions about library research, literature reviews, citation management, and scholarly communications.

Office hours: Brian will be available 2-4 p.m. on Wednesdays at the circulation desk during the semester. Please check the Reference Service Hours calendar for exceptions.

Library Research Consultation

You can also set up an appointment for a 30-minute research consultation with the librarian at his office or your own office.

Request a meeting: Set up a consultation by emailing Brian or using Calendly to schedule an appointment.

The librarian can also meet with your class or research group to provide training on mathematics databases, using the library, conducting literature reviews, managing citations, and publishing for impact.

Schedule a training: Set up a training session for your class or research group by emailing Brian.

Email Assistance

Use the Ask a Science Librarian form to email your library research questions to Brian anytime of day. Responses are normally provided within two business days.

Ask a Librarian 24/7 Chat

You can also chat with a librarian 24/7. Your question may be answered by a reference librarian from Berkeley, from another UC campus, or another academic library elsewhere in the world.
