Journal Impact Factor

2 ways to access:

  1. Search to find a single title
  2. Browse to find a group of journals by topic
  • Click on Browse by Category
  • Click on the arrow next to Select Categories
  • Scroll down to Ophthalmology
  • Click on the box to the left
  • Click on Submit
  • In the right window, click on OPTHALMOLOGY
  • Click on # under #Journals column of the latest year row

 

SNIP

"SNIP measures a source’s contextual citation impact by weighting citations based on the total number of citations in a subject field."

  1. Click on Sources.
  2. Optometry falls under the Health Professions subject area.
  3. Ophthalmology falls under the Medicine subject area.

Google Scholar

Google Scholar also collects journal metrics (h5-index and h5-median).

"h5-index is the h-index for articles published in the last 5 complete years. It is the largest number h such that h articles published in 2013-2017 have at least h citations each."

"h5-median for a publication is the median number of citations for the articles that make up its h5-index."

 

  1. From the Google Scholar homepage, click on the 3 parallel bars in the upper left corner
  2. Click on Metrics
  3. Click on the arrow to the right of Categories
  4. Select Health & Medical Sciences
  5. Click on the arrow to the right of Subcategories
  6. Select Ophthalmology & Optometry
