Catalog Tips and Useful Subject Headings

The following tips may ease your search for materials related to the Middle East:

  • When you find an on-target resource, you may want to check the record to locate other helpful titles with the same subjects or authors, or within the same call number range.
  • For primary resources, these added keywords may be useful: letters, diaries, speeches, newspaper articles, autobiographies, oral history, government and organizational records, statistical data, maps, photographs, motion pictures, sound recordings, advertisements, and artifacts.

In Bancroft Library Collections there is a great value collection of resources from or about Middle East. Use the Library catalog and limit your search by location Bancroft to find these resources.

For a list of Islamic and Middle Eastern manuscripts, please browse the Library collection using "4MS" in a call number search.  

Bancroft Library is the house of the Center for Tebtunis Papyri. It holds the largest papyrus text in the US, of more than 26,000 fragments.
