Library Access

Your Cal 1 Card serves as your library card for borrowing materials and for access to both IGS Library materials and Gardner (MAIN) Stacks, Moffitt, the Media Resources Center and other areas requiring a Cal ID.

Once you have been issued a Cal 1 card, you are automatically set up for library access including checking out materials. If you have any problems, contact the Privileges Desk in the Doe Library.

Privileges Desk
Doe Library, Floor 1
hours: Mon-Fri: 9 am-4:45 pm

Remote Access

To access UC Berkeley library databases and electronic journals from off-campus, you must authenticate your credentials. To learn more about how to authenticate, see the Proxy Server page:

You do not need the library proxy if you connect to the Internet through the UC Berkeley network in a campus building, residence hall, or via AirBears2.

If you connect to the Internet through CalVisitor, you will be prompted to authenticate in order to access licensed library resources.

Requesting Items From NRLF

NRLF - Some UC Berkeley materials (including IGS) are stored at the Northern Regional Library Facility (NRLF) in Richmond. Use the Request button in OskiCat to send materials shelved in NRLF to an on-campus library for check-out or library use.

Please ask IGS Library staff if you have any questions about NRLF items.

We're Here To Help!
