Hand and Power Tools

Pull Saw

As the name implies a pull saw cuts on the pull stroke. Putting too much pressure on the push stroke will cause the blade to bend or the teeth to break. Make sure your materials is securely clamped down before cutting.

Canary Cutter

A Canary cutter is a small hand held saw specifically for cutting through cardboard. The point is dull, but the edges are extremely sharp and it is best handled while wearing gloves.

Dremel Rotary Tool

The Dremel spins bits at high speed to perform tasks like drilling, grinding, cutting, sanding, carving, and engraving. It relies on speed rather than torque.

Claw Hammer

The flat head of the claw hammer is used for driving nails into wood, the back end is used as a lever to pry nails out of wood.

Pliers

Pliers are hand tools used for gripping, bending, and manipulating wires or small objects. They come in various types for different tasks. Needle-nose pliers have long, slender jaws for precision work in tight spaces. Slip-joint pliers feature an adjustable pivot point to widen jaw capacity. Linesman pliers are robust and suited for electrical work, offering strong gripping and cutting surfaces. Locking pliers (like Vise-Grips) can clamp and hold material in place hands-free.

Hot Glue Gun

The glue gun heats and melts a glue stick that is then used to bond two surfaces together. Be mindful of your surroundings whenever you are using a hot tool. Make sure it is completely cool before putting it away.

Wirecutters

Wire cutters are designed to snip wires cleanly and efficiently. Diagonal cutters (or dikes) are the most common, used to cut wire flush to a surface. End-cutting pliers have jaws that cut at the tip, ideal for pulling and trimming. Cable cuttersare heavy-duty versions used for cutting thicker wire or cable. Flush cutters are favored in electronics and jewelry work for clean, precise cuts without leaving sharp edges.
