The Amistad Research Center is committed to collecting, preserving, and providing open access to original materials that reference the social and cultural importance of America's ethnic and racial history, the African Diaspora, human relations, and civil rights.

Immersed within the historic Atlanta University Center is one of the richest collections of primary and secondary resources on African American and African Diaspora history and culture. The Archives Research Center is composed of an extensive and unique collection of books, personal papers of individuals and families, and administrative records of organizations and institutions. The collections cover a broad range of subjects documenting the impact of race and racism on the lives of Black people and their endeavors for freedom, self-determination, equality, and empowerment. The subject focus expands to embrace documentation on the commonality of culture and interconnectedness of fate, experiences, and aspirations of people of African descent.

The HistoryMakers is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational institution founded in 1999, committed to preserving, developing, and providing easy access to an internationally recognized, archival collection of thousands of African American video oral histories. The HistoryMakers Digital Archive contains over 2,000 hours of video footage, featuring 29,000 stories. $30/Month membership fee is required.

Recognized as one of the world's largest and most comprehensive repositories for the documentation of the history and culture of people of African descent in Africa, the Americas, and other parts of the world. As one of Howard University's major research facilities, the MSRC collects, preserves, and makes available for research a wide range of resources chronicling the Black experience.

A national research library devoted to collecting, preserving, and providing access to resources documenting the experiences of peoples of African descent throughout the world. The Schomburg Center provides access to and professional reference assistance in the use of its collections to the scholarly community and the general public through five research divisions, each managing materials in specific formats but with broad subject focus. The center's collections include art objects, audio and video tapes, books, manuscripts, motion pictures, newspapers, periodicals, photographs, prints, recorded music discs, and sheet music.
