LFS-UC Berkeley is an anti-imperialist grassroots organization of Filipino student youth (and our allies) committed to fighting for National Democracy in the Philippines. We hold the belief that our homeland will never be truly democratic nor free until it is liberated from the control of U.S. imperialism, local landlords, big capitalists, and the corrupt politicians.

Established on the 30th of November 1998 – the anniversary of Andres Bonifacio and pre-Martial Law organization, Kabataang Makabayan – Anakbayan-USA seeks to unite the youth from different sectors of society to advance the cause of national democracy. Anakbayan holds the belief that Philippine society today is not truly free nor democratic. It is under the control of U.S imperialism, along with local landlords, big capitalists, and corrupt government officials. The National Democratic Struggle seeks to realize true national liberation for the country and the realization of the democratic rights of the people.

GABRIELA is a grassroots-based alliance of more than 200 women’s organizations, institutions, desks, and programs of women all over the Philippines and abroad seeking to wage a struggle for the liberation of all oppressed Filipino women and the rest of our people. We seek to connect our current conditions as Filipina students, mothers, professionals, and wage-workers in the United States to that of our motherland through cultural expression, education, and political action. We are committed to working for genuine liberation and democracy through advancing the National Democratic movement of the Philippines.

The International Coalition for Human Rights in the Philippines is a global network of organizations, concerned about the human rights situation in the Philippines and committed to campaign for just and lasting peace in the country. It aims to inform the international community about the grave human rights situation in the Philippines today. Beyond information dissemination, it calls on freedom loving peoples, organizations, political parties and governments all over the world to express their concern about the still deteriorating human rights situation in the Philippines and to help the tens of thousands of victims in their quest for justice.

Arkipelago Books has been a pillar of the community for 20 years and exists as one of 2 of the only distributors of speciality books outside of the Philippines. Additionally, the store's collection of contemporary and historical Filipino American titles makes Arkipelago Books a leader in book distribution to libraries, educational institutions, as well as to the local and traveler alike interested in Filipino Literature, Culture, Social Sciences, Art, Poetry, History, and more. Located in the Bayanihan Building in the South of Market (SOMA), Arkipelago Books is a cornerstone to the Filipino businesses, advocate organizations, art spaces and families in the neighborhood. Also, community members from all walks of life -- including academics, artists, activists, students of all ages, in all parts of the country know, love and count on Us and ArkipelagoBooks to provide current, quality products and services. Just this past Fall, this same community rallied and won their bid for SOMA PILIPINAS, San Francisco's newest Historical District, marking the contributions of Filipinos to the neighborhood and to the city.

The Bulosan Center's mission draws from the life’s work of Carlos Bulosan, worker, writer and activist. We produce, preserve, and disseminate knowledge about the Filipinx experience in the United States and the broader diaspora. Our research and education programs are driven by our close partnerships with community-based organizations. The Filipino American Center, a part of the International Center, is designed to highlight the Filipino American experience. The Center contains material in English, Filipino and other dialects from the Philippines. Filipino fiction, literature and history are a significant part of the collection. Librarian Abraham Ignacio curates the collection and is a wealth of information regarding Filipino / American Studies.

The Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS) was founded in Seattle, Washington, by Dorothy Laigo Cordova in 1982. It was incorporated in the State of Washington as a non-profit organization in 1985. Dorothy’s late husband, Fred Cordova, served as FANHS Founding President and Archivist.

Since then, FANHS has continued to grow as a volunteer-run organization, governed by 27-members of the FANHS Board of Trustees, with the FANHS National Office and National Pinoy Archives in Seattle, Washington; a FANHS National Museum in Stockton, California; and 40+ Chapters throughout the United States of America.

The Filipino American National Historical Society began commemorating October as Filipino American History Month nationwide in 1992, and is recognized as the primary informational resource on Filipino Americans.

Dr. Robyn Magalit Rodriguez is a full professor at UC Davis and also the founder of the School for Liberation Education through which she offers accessible courses on Asian American Activism and the Filipino Experience in America.
