1. Can I create a REDCap account?
Currently UC Berkeley is piloting a service trial of REDCap to determine campus interest and support needs. Please contact the Berkeley REDCap Support team for more information about this service trial.
2. How does REDCap differ from other data collection tools that UC Berkeley supports?
UC Berkeley also supports Qualtrics and Google Forms for the creation of surveys and online forms. More information about both of these tools and their support at UC Berkeley can be found here: https://technology.berkeley.edu/surveys/. REDCap differs in comparison to Qualtrics and Google Forms most notably in its support for building and managing databases for projects.
3. Is UCB REDCap able to handle P4 data as defined in the UCB Data Classification Standard?
UC Berkeley REDCap is approved for collection/capture of P4 level data. Please reach out to the REDCap Support team for more information or with questions.
REDCap offers a range of instructional videos, which can be found on the Project Types, Basic Features, and Special Features tabs of this guide (links are taken from the REDCap Video Page).
During the pilot phase of REDCap at Berkeley, we welcome your input about training topics that would be useful, and other customized content that is not linked on the other three pages. Please contact us at the REDCap support email!
In addition, note that there is a REDCap Shared Library of Data Collection Instruments. You can also find survey and other data collection instruments through the ICPSR "Find Data" tool, available in the profiles for most datasets (UC Berkeley users must create an ICPSR account).
