Pacifica Foundation is the non-profit parent of the Pacifica Radio Network: KPFA, Berkeley, CA; KPFK, Los Angeles, CA; KPFT, Houston, TX; WBAI, New York City; WPFW, Washington, D.C.

Founded by a group of conscientious objectors who sought a medium in which to speak out against the military force of WWII, the first Pacifica station, KPFA went on the air in 1949.

The organization's mission is to:    

Promote cultural diversity and pluralistic community expression

Promote freedom of press and serve as a forum for various viewpoints

Maintain an independent funding base
