Psychology 1: Find Popular Press Article

Academic Search Complete

Find an article from a popular press source like Psychology Today, Time, or Newsweek. We recommend using Academic Search Complete, a database that indexes both scholarly and popular titles (linked to below). (Or, flip through paper copies of Psychology Today in the Heyns Reading Room & Current Periodical Room on the 2nd floor of Doe Library, or you can search in Psychology Today directly from UC Library Search)

NOTE: For Psychology Today, the library's resources will match the print issue, not material especially created for their website (such as blog posts). Remember, if you aren't getting articles on your chosen topic, you may want to consider choosing a broader topic.

Search on Topic + Source in Academic Search Complete database

1. Enter topic term(s). Then, enter publication name(s) and select "SO Journal Name" from the pull-down menu.

2. Examine the search results for relevance and other details: [1] article title, [2] publication name, [3] date, [4] page numbers, [5] full text availability.

3. See full display of item. Click on the title to see more information about the article including subject terms and abstract (article summary).
