Building Codes and Regulatory Resources: Home

A guide to locating building codes, especially for California and the San Francisco Bay Area, in the UC Berkeley libraries and on the Internet.

Building Codes

The regulatory environment for design and construction consists of building codes and standards covering local, state, federal, land use, and environmental regulations which are developed specifically for the purpose of regulating the life-safety, health and welfare of the public. Once adopted, building codes become law.
