Resources from the National Library of Jamaica related to two landmark events in Jamaica's history: the 1831 Sam Sharpe Rebellion / Baptist War and the 1865 Morant Bay Rebellion

An interactive visualizatin of the trans-Atlantic networks of intellectual and creative exchange created by enslaved people in the 18th and 19th century. It traces the geographic reach, crossings and intersections of letters, autobiographies, and creative works authored by enslaved people of African-descent.

A significant collection of digitized and transcribed escaped slave advertisements, as well as jail lists of recaptured slaves. Initially focused on Santo Domingo, the project now also covers French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Jamaica, South Carolina, Louisiana and Lower Canada. Most of the clippings and transcriptions are in French or English.
