PH 107: Violence, Social Justice, and Public Health: Programs & Prevention

Provides assistance to groups committed to understanding and preventing violence, particularly adolescent violence. Disseminates information to the public, offers technical assistance to those working in violence prevention, and conducts basic research into the causes of violence and the effectiveness of violence prevention programs. Publications and survey instruments are available.

Information and toolkits for policy makers, student activists, campus administrators, survivors, and more to heighten awareness of the issue, develop leadership, and identify collaborative and effective responses to this complex problem.

A coalition, representing over 1,000 advocates, organizations and allied groups. Through public policy, communications and capacity-building efforts, works to align prevention and intervention strategies to advance social change.

Provides communities, clinicians, policy-makers and others in the field with the information and tools they need to incorporate evidence-based practices addressing mental health issues into their communities or clinical settings. The Resource Center contains a collection of scientifically-based resources, including Treatment Improvement Protocols, toolkits, resource guides, clinical practice guidelines, and more.

This Social Justice Brief examines the scope of IPV as a public health epidemic in the United States by showing the intersectionality of IPV with a range of biopsychosocial factors, as well as the psychosocial implications of IPV for both the survivors and our society.
