Access to Online Library Resources & Help

Set up your off-campus access to library resources (databases, online journals, etc.) using the Library proxy or Library VPN.
(This page has both set-up and troubleshooting information).

UCB Wi-Fi Options include Eduroam and Berkeley-Visitor:
Eduroam, the preferred network for UCB, allows you to access UC Berkeley online resources both at UCB, and while at participating institutions worldwide.
Eduroam requires you to set a WiFi Key.
Berkeley-Visitor, UCB's public WiFi network, requires CalNet authentication each time you try to access a licensed resource.

D-Lab helps UCB faculty, staff, and graduate students with in-depth consulting and advising regarding research design, data analysis, data management, and related techniques and technologies. All training and consulting is free for the UCB community.

Excellent collection of guides on writing, including citing/attribution, citation styles, grammar and punctuation, academic writing, and much more.
Berkeley Writing: College Writing Programs

Graduate Writing Center, Berkeley Graduate Division
Assists graduate students in the development of academic skills necessary to successfully complete their programs and prepare for future positions. Workshops and online consultations are offered on topics such as academic writing, grant writing, dissertation writing, thesis writing, editing, and preparing articles for publication, in addition to writing groups and individual consultations.
Nature Masterclass on Scientific Writing and Publishing
For Postdocs, Visiting Scholars, and Visiting Student Researchers with active, approved appointments, and current UC Berkeley graduate students who are new to publishing or wish to refresh their skills. Part 1: Writing a Research Paper; Part 2: Publishing a Research Paper; Part 3: Writing and Publishing a Review Paper. Offered by Visiting Researcher Scholar and Postdoc Affairs (VSPA) program; complete this form to gain access.

IEEE English for Technical Professionals
An interactive course to advance technical communications skills when speaking, reading, and writing English. Replaces IEEE English for Engineers.
