Searching Tips

In UC Library Search, the Advanced Search module can be leveraged to find early and rare material on native peoples of both North and South America.  Please note that some of this material requires librarian or curatorial approval to view.  Items that mention Bancroft Vault in the location field fall into this category.

► In the first search line, select Any Field and use the search term indian*
► In the second line, select Any Field and use the search term "early works"
► On the right side, At the bottom of the search form, input 1500 in the Year field of the Start Date section and 1900 in the Year field of the End Date section (you can leave the Day and Month fields blank).
Please note, this method will also capture a handful of material with records mentioning the country of India.

► In the second Any Field use the search term "early accounts"
► In the Locations section, select Bancroft Library
